Now that you're making plenty of power, you'll want to make sure your suspension is capable of getting it all to the ground. SLP's new heavy-duty tubular torque arm incorporates a number of design improvements that allow it to transfer power to the wheels much more effectively than does the stamped stock piece. Equipped with high-strength rod ends and a low-deflection polyurethane front bushing, it virtually eliminates ET-killing flex and wheel hop under hard acceleration. An adjustable lower rod end makes it easy to fine-tune pinion angle for dramatically improved traction on any road surface. Installs quickly with no drilling or welding.

NOTE: Includes a precision mounting bracket (compatible with both stock GM 10-bolt and SLP 12-bolt rears) and a magnetic gauge for proper tuning.

  • Rod ended version utilizes a QA1 extra high strength, chrome moly spherical rod end with TeflonŽ/KevlarŽ self lubricating race for those who demand the best in bind-free performance and strength. Grade 8 hardware is supplied

  • Unique rotating front torque arm mount, this system allows the torque arm to travel fore/aft which is VERY necessary with a torque arm suspension system. Solidly mounting the front of the torque arm causes the suspension to bind and hurts your car's handling drastically. The front rotator tube has an integral grease fitting to allow for proper lubrication. 

  • Rear of torque arm mounts to the 3/8" thick steel rear housing mounting plates via two 3/4"-16 NFT x 5/8" bore x 7/8" thick solid steel rod ends. These are solid rod ends, not spherical bearing rod ends, so noise is of no concern. Grade 8 - 5/8" bolts and 5/8" nylock nuts are supplied.

  • Integral Pinion Angle Adjuster between the bottom rear solid rod end and the bottom rear torque arm tube allows for easy pinion angle adjustment. A simple turn of the wrench will give you 6 degrees of pinion angle adjustment, it's that simple.

  • Entire package is a complete bolt-in assembly using existing mounting points on the vehicle. No drilling or welding is required!

  • NHRA rules require a driveshaft safety loop on any vehicle running quicker than 13.99, or on any car running slicks. NHRA rules call for a loop with at least .250" wall thickness, located no more than 6" from the front u-joint. All Spohn Performance driveshaft safety loops meet every NHRA specification requirement in both build construction, and mounting location.

  • Rear mounting bracket is designed to fit on the OEM rear or an aftermarket 12 bolt or Ford 9" rear

By request of our customers, we now offer the option of getting your torque arm with a front and rear driveshaft safety loop. NHRA rules call for a front driveshaft safety loop to prevent catapulting of the vehicle in the event of a front u-joint or shaft failure. While a rear u-joint or shaft failure will not catapult the vehicle, it will take out anything in it's way, ie. rears, suspension components, brake lines, floor boards, etc. Protect yourself, and your investments, and play it safe by containing the front and the rear of the driveline.

NOTE: Do not get a rear driveshaft safety loop if your car is lowered, or if you have an SLP "Loud-Mouth" cat-back exhaust system.

Full length transmission mounted adjustable torque arm for the 1982-2002 F-Body.

Replace your flimsy factory torque arm with a durable Spohn tubular version and put the power where it belongs - the pavement! Built from 1.25" x .120" tubing with a heavy-duty 3/8" rear mounting bracket. Bolts directly in place of factory torque arm using all factory mounting locations. Requires no welding or drilling. Equipped with an adjuster for changing pinion angle and a new, low deflection polyurethane front bushing.

  • Front "stub" of torque arm is reinforced by TIG welding a piece of 1" solid 4140 chrome moly into the i.d. of the front snub. This is the strongest transmission mounted torque arm on the market = bullet-proof!

  • Heavy-duty 3/8" thick steel rear housing mounting plates

  • Polyurethane bushing front mount for minimal road noise

NOTE: 1982-1992 cars require the use of a factory torque arm bushing clamshell mount designed for bushing type 7-1609. If your vehicle is equipped with a 7-1611 type bushing, you will need to get the 7-1609 type clamshell. (See below pictures)

These torque arms feature strong tubular construction and graphite/polyurethane front bushing to reduce wheel-hop caused by excessive flex under hard acceleration and cornering. Fits vehicles with GM corporate 10-bolt rearends in which front locator of stock torque arm has lips facing away from driveshaft. The new Adjustable Torque Arm #5282 is built from 1" x .120 wall DOM tubing. It features a steel adjuster sleeve and a spherical ball rod end on the lower tube, allowing easy pinion angle adjustment without removal. Powder coated black for durability with grade 8 hardware.

Don't use your old rusty mounting bolts when installing an aftermarket torque arm (if you managed to get the nuts off without breaking the bolts!). Our rear torque arm mounting bolts are longer than OEM to accomodate for the thicker mounting plates of the rear mounting bracket on aftermarket torque arms, this allows for full thread engagement through the nut. Our bolts are Grade 8 for maximum strength!

Our torque arm rear mounting hardware kit includes:

(2) 9/16" steel lock nuts (zinc plated)
(4) 9/16" flat washers (zinc plated)
