Engine oil not only serves as a lubricant for moving parts, but as a coolant for the crankshaft, rods and pistons. The bottom end of the engine relies solely on engine oil for cooling. For this reason, maintaining the correct oil temperature is critical to the engine's performance and longevity. Because the latest generation of engines are smaller, run at higher RPMs and produce more heat, maintaining the correct oil temperature is imperative. In addition, most engines have less oil capacity, putting more of a strain on the oil and all engine components. Installation: Universal Engine Oil Cooler Kits fit engines with the following spin-on filter thread sizes: 3/4inch-16, 13/16inch-16, 1inch-12, M18 x 1.5, M20 x 1.5 and M22 x 1.5. Kits are available with a sandwich style filter system which retains the factory oil filter location, or a remote sytle filter system which relocates the oil filter to a more convenient location in the engine compartment. Both full-flow systems use oil filters with 3/4inch-16 threads such as Perma-Cool 81008, FramTM PH8A or equivalent (oil filter not included). Kits include oil hose, illustrated multilingual instructions, and all necessary mounting hardware.
